In addition to my role as an adjunct professor of psychology at the University of Montana, where I teach undergraduate and graduate courses, I maintain a private practice specializing in forensic psychological assessment, consultation, and expert testimony.
My clinical work focuses on psychological evaluations of adolescent and adult defendants in criminal cases, plaintiffs in personal injury cases, worker's compensation and disability claimants, and parents involved with Child and Family Services. As part of my clinical practice, I have a Memorandum of Understanding with the Montana Office of the Public Defender and am a Contract Psychologist for the Forensic Mental Health Facility at the Montana State Hospital.
I also provide expert consultation services and testimony in criminal cases and civil litigation. I have extensive experience providing expert testimony, including in state and federal court at civil commitment hearings, fitness/competence hearings, jury trials, sentencing hearings, and juvenile transfer hearings.
I have published academic book chapters and articles on a number of forensic topics including sexual offending and psychopathy, presented my research at national and international conferences, and have led professional workshops and given lectures on a wide variety of forensic psychological subjects.
Prior clinical experiences include providing therapeutic and assessment services to adolescent and adult inmates at the Arizona State Prison Complex, providing therapy, evaluation, and crisis management services to inmates at a Federal Detention Center in Los Angeles, and conducting evaluations of criminal defendants in state psychiatric hospitals, juvenile courts, and district court clinics. I have also evaluated individuals with substance use disorders for commitment purposes in several court clinics throughout Massachusetts. As a result, I have extensive experience working with adolescents and adults with a wide range of mental health and substance use issues.
